My first ever letter to you
First of all: Thank you for signing up for these letters! I'm honored to be allowed into your inbox. 🙏
Second of all: Sorry for being so quiet…
This is actually the first letter I’ve gotten around to sending to you. I’ve had stage fright to be honest. And haven’t been able to decide on which language to write these letters in: English or Swedish. I eventually decided on English, because it's the language I use in most of my channels, and I want to be as inclusive as possible. (There might be some updates I'll only send to my fellow Swedes though, if there's news that's locally relevant.)
Anyways, thank you for being here with me for this very first letter! I'm planning to start sending these out weekly on Fridays, as a way to stay in touch, share my latest free content and hopefully give you a little creative inspiration.
I'm feeling almost over-inspired right now, to the point of not sleeping that well. 🙄 I've gained some new energy after the holidays, and now I have so many things I want to do. I've picked up posting regularly on Instagram (let's see how long I can keep that up this time...) I'm easing myself into my YouTube video production schedule again (you'll find the first 3 videos of the year linked below.) And I'm right in the middle of filming my fourth Skillshare class, which will be all about portrait drawing.
Most of my days from late december until now have been focused around (obsessively) practicing portrait drawing, a skill I've been wanting to level up for a while. Practicing a creative skill like this is almost addictive to me, especially when I struggle and fail. It kind of spurs me on to study more, draw more, and see how each new sketch is a tiny improvement over the last one. Portrait drawing is my evening ritual most days. I put on my favorite music playlist called "Jazz in the background" on Spotify, light a candle, pull up my reference board on Pinterest.
Because of this, there's not much watercolor practice going on right now. And I haven't painted a bird in quite a while. Looking forward to getting back to that as soon as this class is finished. 😅
If you want to, go ahead and reply to this email, introduce yourself and tell me about your art practice: What do you draw/paint? How did you get started? What mediums do you use? I would love to get to know you a bit better. 🖤
Until next time, have a great weekend!
