New class launch 🎉 (+ plans going forward)
I hope this week has treated you well, despite what's going on in the world. Feeling a lot of sadness, anger and fear over the Ukraine-Russia war. Trying hard not to spend too much time reading the news. If you're affected by this in any way, I really hope you and your loved ones are safe. 🖤
On a lighter note, I've just launched the class I've been working on for over three months now. It's called Portrait Drawing for Beginners - How to Draw Faces Quickly & Accurately, and you can find it on Skillshare. (Secret tip: If you're not a Skillshare member, you can access the class for free by creating an account and starting your free trial.)
I know not everyone can or wants to use Skillshare though. And so I'm also going to create standalone versions of all of my classes soon, to provide more options for accessing them.
It's such a relief to finally have the class published. It's the one I'm most proud of so far, and I'm anxiously awaiting the feedback from my students. 😅
And now, after doing some much needed laundry and procrastinating away half the day by watching 90's music videos on YouTube, I'm wondering what I'll do next.
I'll probably wait a few weeks before starting work on the next class. (Haven’t decided what that will be yet.) Instead, I'll focus more on painting, and on YouTube. I'm planning a video with a 6-month update of my Skillshare teacher earnings and results. A kind of follow-up to my 3-month report. If you're thinking about maybe starting teaching on Skillshare yourself, you'll like this one. 🤗
I'm also making a video about starting and building an email list, which has been much requested.
Apart from that, I think I want to focus more on the art side of things for a while. Topics like "finding your art style", "not comparing yourself to other artists and feeling shitty", and watercolor-related stuff. Like I mentioned in my , I haven't touched my watercolors since December and am longing for it like crazy. (Been drawing portraits 'til blue in the face lately.) So I'm kind of toying with the idea of creating a whole series of videos, a guide to getting started with watercolor painting…
If you have any requests for future videos, don't hesitate to tell me, just reply to this email with your topic suggestion or question. What are your biggest struggles as an artist/creative right now? What goals are you working towards? I would love to create content that support you on your journey.
Now, I'm off to celebrate the launch of the class with a glass of wine and some quiet reading on the couch. I'm currently halfway through The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, and oooh it's exciting. Highly recommend it.
And on Saturday, I'm setting up my watercolors again. Going to paint birds and dance to 90's music...
Wishing you a restful, creative weekend. 🖤
Until next time,
/ Louise
